GATEWAY OF GRACE REFUGEE MINISTRY

DATE/TIME TBD BY VOLUNTEERS & REFUGEE FAMILY

Contact: Laura Damiani (laura.damiani@gmail.com)

What you will be doing:  Taking a refugee family on a field trip. Some suggested trip locations are the Museum of Science, the Children’s Museum or similar location in Boston, picnic locations in Lowell, Chelmsford, etc.

Location of Event and Parking information:  Event location will be agreed upon by the Love Lowell volunteer and the refugee family. Parking details will vary depending on the decided location of the field trip.

What to bring/Important info: Provide transportation for the Refugee Family. Arrange for tickets for the family by purchasing or obtaining free passes from the local library. Do not evangelize

How many Volunteers:  This is a great opportunity for families or small groups to volunteer together. There isn’t a limit to the number of volunteers.

The Refugee Ministry exists to build relationships with a mostly Muslim population of refugees. We do not evangelize. We establish friendships and strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through our behavior and actions. The families have gone through a great deal in getting to the US to find refuge. They have few resources and are becoming acquainted with American culture. They are working hard to learn the English language. A field trip to a special place with new American friends is a true gift for each family.

After you sign up, someone from the Gateway of Grace ministry will connect you with a family.
